I KNOW

wang_collage_I KNOW.jpg

WHAT CAN'T SHE SAY?

In this collage, I tried to express the surrounding pressure on women. While the woman covered her ears, while she obviously was trying to say something, she had to put on the fake smile. Through the diagonal lines her arms formed, we come to the fake smile; after the facial expression, "I KNOW" is in her mind. Then we slide down through her hair, we can see the word "Suspicion"; next to the word is clearly a wine bottle, however, the name of the wine is covered by the "Coca Cola" sign. Then follow the heels and the balloon, we come across the top of the collage to the right of the woman. On her shoulder is the weight of heels, which symbolized social expectation of women. There is a faceless woman on the right edge of the collage. She reminded again, that social pressure shaped so many of us the same way, that we would no longer have unique expressions.

DRUNK STREET

WHY DO PEOPLE RELY ON ALCOHOL?

In this collage, I tried to explain the reason behind drunkenness. From the orange blocks in the bottom middle, we could recognize that this collage is taken place on the street. The street has a slope. Follow gravity, we come first to the bottom left corner of the collage. A taxi hits the wine bottle, which shows the consequence. Then if we look up, after the flower, there's the first building, tilted, like the street. In the second building, we can see the letters. We are emotional over personal connections. Perhaps this is one of the reasons. Then next the the third building, we can see the big road sign. The structure which supports the sign shows all the good time someone had, but all in black and white. Maybe it is for the loss of happiness people drink. But over all, most of the times, people drink not because they want to celebrate, especially when they are drinking alone.
